I see designs in my head when I am traveling. I was driving through Boston ( my fav city ) in April and as I approached the tunnel, I was just so taken with the structure of the Zakim bridge against a very blue early Spring sky. The colors of Boston, minus the colorful signs on buildings and advertising billboards, are very simple. Gray of cement, reds of bricks, and blues of the sky reflecting in the windows of the tallest buildings. Sometimes my eyes don't open wide enough to see all I want to see so it takes me a few weeks to sort it all out in my head then put it on paper ... I know, I know, crazy artsy-fartsy Kelly lol.
Today is an unplanned stranding ... no not strands of yarn, but a broke down Suburban waiting to be fixed and a good friend letting me spend the night on her couch with Cosmo in tow. Thankfully I am able to continue most of my work on the road as I always carry bags of yarn and projects that I seem to never have time to finish, my laptop and my iPhone for random lovely things that catch my eye.
About a month ago I charted a design and started counting and adjusting and putting the idea on paper. Today I have the beginnings of a hat that reflects what I see when I travel to, around, and through Boston. What I call urban lovely.
To be continued ..... :) xoxo
